- DWP to increase Open Banking monitoring for fraud checks Claimants may be asked to link bank accounts for “automated verification.” This raises serious privacy and discrimination concerns.
- Disability Cost of Living Payment not extended in 2025 Despite high inflation and energy costs, no new payment is planned beyond March 2024's final round.
- Tribunal backlog continues to grow Average waiting time for PIP and UC tribunals now exceeds 6 months in some areas.
- Sanction reviews quietly increased DWP has been given wider powers to review and potentially suspend claims without warning — especially those on self-employment or fluctuating earnings.
- Digital-first strategy pushed further In-person appointments and letters are being replaced with digital communications, which could disadvantage claimants with mental health conditions or tech barriers.
